JAFOWA (Joint Action for Farmers' Organisations in West Africa) was established in 2015 by European foundations, following the 2014 International Year of Agriculture and the launch of the Network of European Foundations for Sustainable Food and Farming. Since then, the partnership has enlarged to encompass American foundations together with new European foundation partners.

The programme is being co designed and co developed with farmers organisations

in West Africa, NGOs, trade unions and agricultural networks to address the needs of small-scale farmers.

The programme aims to strengthen farmers' organisations and promote sustainable local food systems.
